200 Degrees Coffee opens its 90-seater coffee shop in Lincoln

Speciality coffee roaster 200 Degrees has opened its coffee shop on Sincil Street in Lincoln bringing its signature fresh food menu and hand roasted coffee from its roast house in Nottingham.

The new 90-seater coffee shop is located at 34 Sincil Street in the Cornhill Quarter heritage development in the heart of Lincoln and brings 12 more jobs to the city’s burgeoning food and drink scene.

Complete with a courtyard garden, and purpose-built barista school, the new shop will serve 200 Degrees coffee, with an imaginative selection of salads, soups, sandwiches, cakes and pastries prepared daily on the premises. There will be plenty of vegan and gluten free options and everything is available to eat in or takeaway.

The Lincoln venue is the company’s eighth coffee shop to open since 2014 and the fifth to feature bespoke barista training, including new courses and tasting events for a range of experience levels – from enthusiastic beginners, all the way through to budding baristas and established professionals. The school also features a sweeping mezzanine floor with views across the entire shop.

Coffee lovers can also purchase freshly roasted beans in store and online, and 200 Degrees now supplies coffee to more than a hundred wholesale customers across the UK, as well as providing bespoke ‘beans to machines’ solutions for numerous offices, restaurants, cafes, hotels, conference centres and shops. In the lead up to the opening, 200 Degrees set up home in a converted horse box and hosted popular pop-up events, offering passers-by the only thing better than fresh coffee, free fresh coffee.

Tom Vincent, co-founder and director at 200 Degrees, said: “A lot of hard work has gone into the opening and we’ve had our fair share of glitches and tense moments, we’re very excited to finally open our doors to the city and are honoured to become part of Lincoln’s thriving food and drink scene.

“We cherish coffee culture and hope to become an integral part of the Cornhill Quarter and its rich history by providing a comfortable and relaxing space where people can feel at home.

“With our roast house less than an hour away, we can supply fresh beans to our shop and other businesses, support Lincoln’s burgeoning coffee scene and work together with shops in the vicinity to solidify the Cornhill Quarter as a prime retail and leisure destination in Lincoln.

“We also hope to introduce our regular pop-up shops for small local producers to offer somewhere for creative people to showcase their talent and hopefully make a few quid.”

Ursula Lidbetter, Lincolnshire Co-op’s Chief Executive, commented:

“We’re looking forward to 200 Degrees opening its doors in The Cornhill Quarter. We’re really beginning to see the area come to life with a great mix of local and nationwide brands all offering something new and different. 200 Degrees fits perfectly with our vision for the area, hosting a number of events and pop up offers, to make a visit to Lincoln an even better experience.”

200 Degrees, which was set up by Tom and his business partner Rob Darby in 2012, has ‘distinctively independent’ coffee shops in Nottingham, Birmingham, Leeds, Sheffield, Leicester and Cardiff. The company has further national expansion plans with a shop in Manchester due to open in 2019.
