CHINA TANG AT THE DORCHESTER CELEBRATES 20 YEARS WITH STAR-STUDDED ANNIVERSARY PARTY

London’s most glamorous names gathered at China Tang at The Dorchester to celebrate the restaurant’s landmark 20th anniversary, on the evening of 18th September.
Friends of the house including Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Jeremy Scott, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, Princess Eugenie and Edward Enninful joined together for an unforgettable evening that coincided with the opening of London Fashion Week.
Founded in 2005 by the late Sir David Tang, China Tang has become one of London’s most iconic dining destinations, blending authentic Cantonese cuisine with the timeless elegance of 1930s Shanghai. The anniversary celebration paid tribute to his vision, marking two decades of style, hospitality and cultural exchange.

Guests were welcomed through a striking Park Lane entrance framed by red maple trees and glowing Chinese lanterns, before discovering a series of immersive spaces designed in collaboration with designer florist Philip Hammond. Ornate Ming-style vases overflowing with vibrant flowers, neon lighting inspired by Hong Kong’s nightlife, and traditional carts serving freshly prepared dim sum and seasonal fruit created a rich celebration of Chinese heritage.
A ten-piece ensemble from Graham Dalby and the London Swing Orchestra played as guests dined on China Tang’s signature Cantonese delicacies, before DJ Sally K took over, transforming the dining room into a dance floor beneath a canopy of golden balloons.

Speaking on the milestone, Nathalie Ford, VP Europe and Middle East for China Tang, said:
“Celebrating 20 years of China Tang honours not only Sir David’s remarkable legacy but also the generations of guests who have made our restaurant a cherished part of their lives. As we move forward, we remain dedicated to delivering the same understated glamour, timeless hospitality and genuine warmth he envisioned.”
The anniversary crowns a landmark year for China Tang, with refreshed interiors at The Dorchester, the introduction of uniforms designed by Huishan Zhang, and international expansion following the launch of China Tang Dubai earlier this year, along with the opening of Dim Sum by China Tang at Harrods.
For two decades, China Tang at The Dorchester has been more than a restaurant: it has been a gathering place for royalty, celebrities, artists and loyal regulars alike. This anniversary year cements its position as one of London’s most celebrated cultural institutions, and a lasting tribute to the extraordinary vision of Sir David Tang.
China Tang at The Dorchester is open daily for lunch and dinner.
