99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant to Debut in Mayfair This November, Marking the Brand’s First UK Opening

The internationally acclaimed 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant is set to make its UK debut this November with the launch of its newest flagship in London’s Mayfair, introducing a refined, contemporary Japanese dining and bar experience to one of the city’s most prestigious districts.

Located at 22 Park Lane, the opening marks a significant milestone for 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant as it enters the UK market for the first time, joining an established international portfolio spanning Madrid, Barcelona, Marbella, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Monaco, Rabat and Budapest.

Since its beginnings in Madrid, 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant has developed an international trajectory underpinned by prestigious gastronomic recognition across multiple markets. Its Abu Dhabi restaurant has held a MICHELIN Star for three consecutive years, while both Abu Dhabi and Dubai were awarded One Toque by Gault&Millau in 2024. Most recently, 99 Sushi Bar Rabat was awarded Two Toques by Gault&Millau in 2026, during the guide’s inaugural edition in Morocco.

The London opening represents the next chapter in 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant’s continued international expansion, bringing its distinctive approach to contemporary Japanese gastronomy to the capital for the first time.

A Contemporary Expression of Japanese Culinary Art

99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant Mayfair presents an elegant and modern interpretation of traditional Japanese cuisine, elevated through precise craftsmanship and an uncompromising approach to ingredient sourcing. At the core of its offering is a commitment to premium produce, notably Atlantic fatty bluefin tuna, and a culinary
philosophy rooted in near-perfect execution “99% perfect,” reflecting the brand’s belief that absolute perfection remains unattainable.

The menu is designed as a journey through refined Japanese gastronomy, subtly infused with European techniques and influences inspired by the travels of founders Pedro and Fernando de León. This fusion creates a distinctive culinary identity that challenges conventional expectations of a traditional sushi restaurant.

Design-Led Dining and Immersive Atmosphere

The Mayfair venue has been conceived as an urban lifestyle destination, combining sophisticated design with immersive sensory detail. Interiors feature gold accents, mirrored surfaces, amber-lit textures and rich velvet tones in purple and crimson, creating an intimate and atmospheric dining environment.

The restaurant also includes landscaped outdoor terraces featuring sculptural bonsai installations that reinterpret Japanese garden symbolism through a contemporary lens, offering guests a striking contrast between nature and urban London.

Dining Spaces & Capacity

The restaurant accommodates a variety of experiences across a series of distinct spaces:
● Dining Area – Capacity: up to 60 guests
● Cabaret Bar – Capacity: 19 guests, 21+ only
● Sushi Counter – Capacity: 4 guests, offering chef-led counter dining with live preparation

Total capacity reaches 85 seated guests, with up to 185 guests for cocktail receptions, making the venue equally suited to private events and brand activations.

Brand Story and Award Recognition

Founded in Madrid in 2005 by brothers Fernando and Pedro de León, 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant has grown from a pioneering Japanese dining concept into an internationally recognised hospitality brand.

Built on a passion for Japanese culinary heritage, innovation and a constant pursuit of excellence, the group is now entering its next phase of global growth under Group CEO Jaime Castañeda, who brings more than 18 years of international hospitality experience and has led the brand’s accelerated expansion across Europe and the GCC.

With a MICHELIN Star in Abu Dhabi for three consecutive years, 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant continues to strengthen its international reputation. 99 Sushi Bar Dubai has also been awarded One Toque by Gault&Millau, while 99 Sushi Bar Rabat received Two Toques from Gault&Millau in 2026, during the guide’s inaugural edition in Morocco.

Following the opening of its latest restaurant at The St. Regis Budapest, the group will make its highly anticipated London debut in Mayfair this November, with a forthcoming opening in Doha continuing its international expansion.

A New Benchmark for Japanese Dining in London

Positioned as a driving force within contemporary Japanese dining, 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant Mayfair aims to redefine expectations through bold culinary direction, design-led interiors and an uncompromising focus on quality and creativity.

With its arrival in London, the brand begins an exciting new chapter in its international story, bringing more than two decades of experience and a globally recognised approach to Japanese gastronomy to the capital.

99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant Mayfair will offer an urban Japanese experience where tradition is honoured, boundaries are pushed and every visit reflects a bold, modern expression of luxury dining.
