Beachside Bakery Opens at Bedruthan Hotel & Spa, Cornwall
Inspired by its picturesque surroundings on the cliffs of Mawgan Porth, Bedruthan Hotel and Spa is thrilled to announce the opening of its new artisanal Bakery at Bedruthan. The bakery aims to build a community through food, bringing guests and locals together. Serving traditional Cornish treats with imaginative twists, the bakery offers freshly baked pastries, a daily selection of artisan bread and celebratory cakes available to pre-order.
The new bakery also offers hands-on workshops, bread and butter tastings and seasonally inspired cookery classes, inviting visitors to learn new skills and fall in love with the art of baking. Led by Bedruthan’s Head Pastry Chef Georgia Mugford, the team are proud to offer sweet treats that change daily depending on available produce, from a pear and pecan Danish to vegan cinnamon rolls or a classic pain au chocolat. Savoury delights include products ranging from a honey & oat bloomer, white sourdough and pumpkin tin loaf. A milkshake menu and deli-style salads will also be available. All food is prepared fresh each morning.
Self-taught Head Pastry Chef Georgia Mugford aims to reinvent and develop new techniques in her trade. On the opening of the bakery, she said
“We are delighted to extend our food offerings at Bedruthan with the launch of the Bakery. In keeping with the hotel’s philosophy of working in harmony with nature through sustainable practices, all ingredients are sourced locally, and we have also focussed on catering for all lifestyles, including gluten-free and vegan options. Looking forward, we hope to extend our online ordering to include picnic hampers and breads.”
The Bakery at Bedruthan is committed to safeguarding the environment through a low-waste approach, using exclusively local produce to lower delivery mileage and support local business. The team utilise croissant trims to make cinnamon rolls each day and the crystallised lemon produced for syrup is then repurposed to garnish cakes. Meanwhile, any unsold bread is kept for use in the hotel restaurant that evening.
Whether stopping by for a morning coffee looking out at the Atlantic or settling in for a picnic on Mawgan Porth beach, the new bakery marks an exciting expansion of the F&B offering at Bedruthan Hotel. With the launch of the hotel’s new Ogo Restaurant, showcasing superb local produce and sustainably caught seafood, the team are proud to offer their guests the utmost dining flexibility, from artfully presented dining experience at Ogo to fresh salads and sandwiches at the sea view Wild Café and indulgent snacks to go from the Bakery at Bedruthan.
