David Harris appointed as GM for The Langley

Set to open later this year, The Langley is a brand new 41 room boutique hotel and 25,000 sq ft sp, situated in the Buckingham countryside.

The hotel and former hunting lodge will consist of two buildings, a historic mansion and a Grade-II listed 18th century building that had previously been used as stables and a brew house.

David Harris, who previously held the role of operations manager at the Ashford International Hotel, has a total of more than 18 years’ experience within the hospitality industry.

His first position as general manager was at The Marquis at Alkham where he helped the venue in its achievement of the AA Inspectors’ Choice in Britain & Ireland 2015/16 along with its inclusion in the 2016 editions of The Good Hotel Guide and Michelin Guide.

Previously, Harris was food and beverages manager at Eastwell Manor, Hotel & Spa (now acquired by Champneys) where it was his duty to oversee a number of large-scale events and develop new procedures with a focus of the resort maintaining its AA Four Red Star status.

In his role as general manager at The Langley, David will show guidance to a team of 100 staff members and will take on responsibilities such as overseeing the completion of the build and refurbishment process, recruitment and managing the pre-launch budget.

Upon his appointment, David commented: “I am very excited to join the team at The Langley ahead of its much anticipated launch. It’s an incredible heritage project to be involved in and it’s been fantastic to be on site to watch its transformation. The meticulous restoration and design process is a testament to the scale and ambition we have for The Langley and we are committed to offering an exceptional experience with service second-to-none when we open our doors to guests later this year.”

Khalid Affara, managing director of City & Country Hotels, who own and manage The Langley said: “I am delighted to welcome David to the team at The Langley. With his extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of every aspect of the UK hospitality industry, I am confident that he will play a critical role in the opening of The Langley.”

The hotel is to be designed by Dennis Irvine Studio, who also created the concept for The Wellesley and the two Wellesley yachts.
