Eneko at One Aldwych to open September 1st
Eneko at One Aldwych, the highly anticipated informal Basque restaurant opening in London’s One Aldwych hotel, will officially launch on 1st September with a soft opening throughout August when guests can enjoy 50% off food. The restaurant will feature Eneko Atxa’s fun and inventive modern interpretation of Basque cuisine. Renowned for his three Michelin-starred Azurmendi in Bilbao and voted no.16 in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants, Eneko is heading in a new direction with this 110-cover restaurant and 35-cover wine bar. Showcasing his commitment to quality ingredients and precise execution, Eneko will offer a simpler, more relaxed culinary concept deeply rooted in traditional Basque cooking.
Starters feature the Txerri Boda Pork Festival – a flavoursome trio of Iberico ham and mushroom duxelle in milk bread, suckling pig brioche and pigs trotter bocata. Main courses include Basquestyle hake tempura, red pepper sauce and parsley emulsion. Highly creative vegetarian dishes include dressed beetroot tartare as well as bomba rice risotto with Idiazabal pesto. A decadent dessert list will offer Eneko’s signature rice pudding lollipops with crisp white and dark chocolate hazelnut coating.
The floating wine bar located on the mezzanine will be the perfect setting for guests to enjoy the buzzing atmosphere with a glass of wine from the carefully crafted Spanish list, including the house Gorka Izagirre Txakoli, a crisp white wine from Eneko’s own vineyards. A bar menu with a selection of Basque-inspired dishes will be offered.
Eneko at One Aldwych is the first restaurant designed by celebrated firm Casson Mann. The space is relaxed, warm and inviting. Many materials have been sourced from craftsmen in the Basque region, wood and stone in particular, including bespoke contemporary furniture and interior detail.
One Aldwych, a member of Leading Hotels of the World, opened in 1998 in Covent Garden and is one of London’s most acclaimed luxury hotels. Its many awards include Best Boutique Hotel in the World, London Luxury Hotel of the Year and Best Hotel in London.
