Iconic Windermere hotel announces the opening of a new restaurant
Following a bumper £1m first phase renovation, The Hydro hotel, on Helm Road, has now opened 1881 Restaurant and Bar.
The restaurant, which is open to both hotel guests and members of the public, will specialise in serving local, British cuisine and will be open from breakfast until late evening.
Jodi Masterson, operations director at Squire Hotels, said: “The opening of the 1881 Restaurant and Bar is just another piece of The Hydro jigsaw complete.
“We’re delighted with the menu and we feel there’s an option for everyone. The restaurant was part of the hotel’s extensive renovations and the feedback we have received has been superb. It’s certainly an exciting time to be a part of The Hydro.”
As part of the renovation the restaurant saw a unique design incorporated into the interior furnishings. The designer mirrored the features of a historic stain glass window, which is already part of the hotel, featuring beautiful colours and birds to create a luxury and unique Hydro Fabric.
Traditional meals will be served whilst the restaurant will have regular weekly offers as well as specials coinciding with both seasons and the food calendar.
Overlooking Lake Windermere, the hotel was originally an 81-bedroom establishment but work saw rooms knocked together to offer bigger rooms to guests.
Now a 78-bedroom hotel, it can also host weddings and conferences, whilst still accommodating the many coach tours which come to the Lake District.
