Mother’s Day 2020 at Petersham Nurseries

Petersham Nurseries is putting on a series of themed menus and mindful masterclasses, as well as stocking a range of gorgeous gifts, to celebrate Mother’s Day 0n 22nd March 2020.

Dining at Petersham Nurseries Covent Garden

On Mother’s Day itself, there will be special menus available in La Goccia and The Petersham, both set among the stunning floristry at the Covent Garden site.

At La Goccia, the set menu has been designed for sharing (£45pp). On arrival, enjoy snacks such as Coccoli before choosing one antipasti dish each from a selection including Portland crab crostini and Padron peppers. Next, the choice of wood-fired dishes includes the likes of Chicken al mattone and Butternut squash and chard parmigiana, and each guest can also choose a Contorno like Potato al forno or Cauliflower gratin with thyme pangrattato to share with the table. Finally, to round it all off, there will be an assortment of dolci to share, including Poached fruit with hazelnut sorbet and a Bramley apple and oat crumble.

Alongside their rainforest-inspired afternoon tea, The Petersham will also offer a bespoke Mother’s Day menu (£75pp). The menu begins with a rose petal bellini and appetisers to share followed by dishes including Portland crab salad with blood oranges and castelfranco and fillet of Cornish hake with white polenta and saffron mussels. For dessert enjoy prosecco jelly with raspberry ripple ice cream, Rhubarb and vanilla mascarpone tart or Original Beans chocolate with Zisola olive oil ice cream and honeycomb.

Dining at Petersham Nurseries Richmond 

On Mother’s Day itself, dine under a canopy of bougainvillea and enjoy a seasonal spring menu with dishes inspired by the kitchen garden. On Saturday 21st March, Petersham Nurseries Cafe will also host an intimate win lunch. Guests will enjoy a four-course lunch prepared by Head Chef Ambra Papa while exploring a whole range of Petersham Cellar wines produced at Tenuta di Ghizzano. Or, for something more informal, the Teahouse offers a selection of flavoursome dishes and wholesome cakes along with loose leaf tea and organic coffee.

Floristry 

Petersham Nurseries’ talented team of florists have created a selection of spring bouquets and vase arrangements made with British grown flowers. From bud vases to larger bouquets, a selection of floral arrangements will be available to buy from the Florist in Covent Garden and Richmond. In Richmond, scented garden planters have been potted especially for Mother’s Day along with three beautifully wrapped David Austin roses, hand-picked for their scent, colour and beauty. If dining in one of their restaurants on Mother’s Day, treat her to a beautiful bouquet presented to your table on arrival. London delivery is available from Covent Garden and locally within Richmond.

Workshops 

There will be a series of workshops hosted around Mother’s Day that are the perfect way to spend some quality family time. In Covent Garden, there will be a fermentation class on 21^st March with Rachel de Thample. This hands-on workshop will teach attendees how to make their own sourdough starter that they can use over and over again, as well as how to ferment using honey, and they will take home their own pots of fermented honey products. Other interactive masterclasses on offer at Petersham Nurseries this Mother’s Day include a paper marbling workshop on 17^th March, hand-block painting on 25^th March in Richmond, and learning how to hand-tie a bouquet on 18^th and 25^th March in Covent Garden – the perfect Mother’s Day gifts.
