Soho House founder Nick Jones headlines Bruntwood NRB Debate 2022

Nick Jones

Following the announcement that Soho House will open in Manchester later this year, NRB is delighted to welcome its founder and CEO, Nick Jones, as headline speaker at the Bruntwood NRB Debate on Tuesday 15 March 2022 at Manchester Central.

With Soho House due to open in Manchester later this year, the Bruntwood NRB Debate is the perfect opportunity to hear from one of the true titans of the global hospitality industry. Nick entered hospitality at a young age, before going on to launch a number of successful operations in London, before Soho House & Co spanned the world.

The Bruntwood NRB Debate will provide a rare and exclusive opportunity to hear his thoughts on both the art and the business of hospitality, as well as how he has developed both his business and the concepts within it. And with a first Northern club launching later this year the timing couldn’t be better to ask why Manchester? And why now?

Nick will be interviewed by the CEO of NRB, Thom Hetherington, who said, “I have admired Nick and Soho House from afar from some time, he has created a business empire, raising standards and shifting markets and audience expectations and everywhere it has landed. Very few people can claim to have had Nick’s impact, and I’m looking forward to finding out how and why he does it, and indeed welcoming him to Manchester!”

As well as the headline speaker the Bruntwood NRB Debate will once again feature a topical panel chaired by Hospitality, Marketing and Experience Consultant Lucy Noone Blake. This year’s panel discussion asks; Why Does Diversity Diminish in Management and How Do We Address It?

Every kitchen team speaks multiple languages, every front of house team; an array of nationalities, sexualities and social circumstances. But can we say the same for the board room? Why does diversity diminish as we move towards management, what happens to the boardroom as they become whiter, more male, better educated in an industry famous at grass roots for its inclusivity?

A panel including Charlotte Kemp, Managing Director at Sixty Eight People, and Natalie Lea, GM at Depot Mayfield, to hear about their experiences, and discuss the structural change required to create senior teams which reflect the true nature of the industry.

The NRB Debate is sponsored by leading property developer Bruntwood and owner of over 100 properties across Manchester, Liverpool & Leeds.

“Northern Restaurant & Bar has created a chance for the F&B sector to collaborate and network as a community – something that those who work in the hospitality industry don’t often get time to do. Events like the Bruntwood NRB Debate allow attendees to explore the industry’s most relevant and challenging issues in-depth, alongside some of the restaurant and bar sector’s leading commentators and luminaries” said Andrea George, Director of Retail & Leisure at Bruntwood.

“For us at Bruntwood it’s a chance to support talent, innovation, and sharing of knowledge within the hospitality sector – something which is very important to us as quality restaurants, bars and cafes are a big part of what makes a neighbourhood special. Our aim is to build amazing places to live, work and play and that’s why we nurture independent food and drink businesses as much as we can. Supporting Northern Restaurant & Bar is a fantastic extension of this ethos”.

The Bruntwood NRB Debate starts at 11:45 and includes a buffet lunch. Tickets are priced £55+VAT (£66). Book tickets now and save 20% online at nrbdebate.co.uk using EARLYBIRD
