South East Asian bar and kitchen opens in Covent Garden
This month, Sunda Kitchen opens its doors, bringing together delicious South East Asian food and creative cocktails in the heart of Covent Garden. The team behind the launch is made up of Jamie Younger (The Begging Bowl, Peckham), Phil Sutton (The Perry Hill Pub, Catford) and Adam Papa (Happiness Forgets and Ever After, Shoreditch) who are bringing their expertise to this casual dining concept.
Named after the tectonic plate that joins large stretches of South East Asia, the restaurant’s menu takes inspiration from the food of Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia, with creative dishes designed to share. Head chef Charles Lee runs the kitchen following recent roles as a consulting head chef at the Soho restaurant, Robata, and modern Korean restaurant, Jinjuu, plus stints working with celebrated chefs, Marcus Wareing (Petrus) and Angela Hartnett (The Connaught).
