Courtyard by Marriott Exeter Sandy Park opens its doors
Courtyard by Marriott, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s extraordinary portfolio of 30 hotel brands, today announced the opening of Courtyard by Marriott Exeter Sandy Park, the first Courtyard by Marriott hotel in the South West of England. Owned by Exeter Rugby group Plc, the 250-bedroom hotel is set in a distinctive location in the vibrant city of Exeter, offering convenient access to Sandy Park Conference & Banqueting Centre, home to the rugby club Exeter Chiefs.
Exeter Rugby Club Chairman and Chief Executive, Tony Rowe OBE, said: “I am delighted to see the opening of the new Courtyard by Marriott Exeter Sandy Park. The new hotel will further enhance the outstanding facilities we are able to offer to all our customers here at Sandy Park as well as the City of Exeter and surrounding area,”
Renowned for its beautiful surroundings and easy access to the coast, Exeter is an attractive destination that offers a rich cultural and art scene.
“We are thrilled to open this new Courtyard by Marriott in the UK, joining an existing portfolio of 12 hotels. Exeter is an amazing destination and whether you are in the city for business, pleasure or to watch a match, the hotel will provide all you need for a worthwhile visit.” said Kirsty Holburd, General Manager
Led by London-based interior design company Twenty2 Degrees, the design of the hotel offers a contemporary look and feel that speaks to the Courtyard by Marriott’s ambitious and enterprising guests. The modern furnishings, complete with timber walls and blue hues create a comfortable and welcoming ambiance. The artwork, figurines and carpet design throughout the hotel are an ode to the hotel’s famous neighbour, the Exeter Chiefs rugby club.
The room design offers hybrid zones for working, sleeping, relaxing and getting ready. Indirect lighting and a neutral colour palette provide an elevated and modern look and feel.
The hotel offers three dining outlets, The View, The Kitchen & Bar and the Match Day Bar all managed by the Executive Chef, Richard Hunt.
The View Restaurant, opening this May, is located on the top floor of the hotel. The restaurant offers unbeatable, panoramic views of Devon’s countryside and coastline. Local produce will take pride of place on the menu with seafood, meat and vegetables all being sourced from local suppliers. Situated in the centre of the action, in front of the kitchen, is the Chef’s table. Available for parties of up to six people, the social dining experience allows guests to engage with the Chef at work while enjoying a delicious feasting menu. The central bar offers a generous drink list complete with local beers, wines, ciders, and spirits.
The Kitchen & Bar can be found on the ground floor of the hotel. The all-day dining venue offers international comfort dishes cooked with the very best of local produce. The signature burger is made with beef from Devon and the crab linguine is sourced from Brixham, just a few miles away from the hotel. The bar menu caters to all tastes and features local craft beers, as well as a wide selection of local spirits.
The Match Day Bar opens its doors on match days, perfect for gathering for a pre or post-match beverage.
The hotel also offers three flexible meeting and events spaces, a 24-hour 90 square metre gym and a secure car park with electric-car charging ports.
