Eastbourne opening continues Chi expansion

The South Asian-inspired restaurant group, Chi, is to open its eighth outlet at The Beacon shopping centre in Eastbourne.

Harry Cody-Owen of Bruce Gillingham Pollard – which is advising Chi on its UK expansion – comments: “Chi is an exciting concept with great food and beautiful interiors. We can see it growing to 50-plus sites during the next five years, and we’re seeking more flagship sites in other high-profile locations”.

It is the concept’s third large format restaurant following successful openings in Huntingdon and Rushden Lakes. A new London restaurant is also planned at New Oxford Street W1. The group also has four ‘street food’ quick service restaurants in Basingstoke, Cambridge, Norwich and Watford.

Chi CEO, Lamen Reddy, comments:

“We started Chi as a street food concept in Cambridge then decided to elevate that idea to a new full-table service restaurant which offers a range of pan-Asian dishes from Japanese to Korean.

“We really like the Eastbourne area and what has been done with The Beacon.”

The centre’s owners, LGIM Real Assets, recently announced that it would be the pilot site for its new Foundry suburban co-working concept. At ground level, it will provide a 4,000 sq ft micro retail hub for seed and concept retail brands with 12,000 sq ft of co-working space on the first floor.
