Fine dining in a shipping container: Adrian Martin’s Wildflower to open on Camden High Street on 18 July 2020
Wildflower opened for a short soft launch in March 2020, but was forced to close before its official opening due to lockdown
On 18 July 2020, Wildflower by Adrian Martin will open once more in Camden High Street’s new eco market, Buck Street. Wildflower aims to re-energise the notion of fine dining: bringing London its first tasting menu served in an upcycled shipping container. Making the most of top quality produce from his home country, the restaurant marks the London debut from 28-year-old Irish celebrity chef, Adrian Martin.
Wildflower, Adrian’s debut restaurant, is also a first for London. It is historic Camden High Street’s only fine dining restaurant, and the first in London inside a shipping container. With just 30 covers – reduced to 10 for the current regulations and safety measures – Wildflower is an intimate, charming space, sandwiched between street food vendors and independent retailers in the heart of Buck Street Market. The seasonally driven tasting menus are inspired by Adrian’s Irish heritage, utilising produce from his home in Country Cavan, as well as more locally sourced and sustainable produce, with every dish championing a foraged ingredient. The market’s communal garden will be the source of many of the restaurants herbs and all food waste will be composted and used to generate energy that will be used to produce electricity for the entire market.
The regular and vegan 8-course tasting menus are £60pp or £110pp with a paired wine flight. Adrian’s cooking champions simplicity over complexity, allowing one or two ingredients to sing: like Onion & bacon bread; Scallop & Alexander root, Jerusalem artichoke veloute and Hay baked celeriac, hazelnut & barley. From 25 July a simplified lunch menu will be available for £36pp, featuring uncomplicated Irish fare like Quail, celeriac, lentils and Roast cod, wild mushrooms and proper Irish bread & Irish butter.
Wildflower by Adrian Martin will be one of only two restaurants in Buck Street’s eco-market and will reopen to the public on 18 July 2020.
