Hotel Cala di Volpe reopened its doors on April 16, inviting guests to experience Sardinia at its most enchanting—mild temperatures, breathtaking views, and a sense of effortless elegance. Along Sardinia’s storied coastline, many of the region’s most alluring hotels follow the rhythms of the island – shuttering in winter and opening again each spring when the light shifts and the sea turns that impossible shade of green.
As the season returns, so do the people – guests, yes, but at iconic Hotel Cala di Volpe, just as importantly, the team. Many of the hotel’s staff have returned to their posts season after season, decade after decade, building relationships with guests that go well beyond the transactional warmth of hospitality. A sommelier who remembers a guest’s favorite vintage from three summers ago. A beach attendant who knows exactly where a family likes to sit.
Over time, these small acts of recognition accumulate into something that feels less like a hotel stay and more like coming home. It is this rare quality, a staff whose loyalty mirrors that of the guests themselves that inspired Hotel Cala di Volpe’s new campaign, “Welcome Back, We Missed You”. A sentiment, it turns out, that goes both ways. At the heart of the campaign lies a key principle that defines its essence: Hotel Cala di Volpe is more than a destination – it is its people.
The project develops a narrative rooted in belonging, memory, and the meaningful relationships that define hospitality. Some are team members who once pursued opportunities elsewhere, only to return to the hotel they have long considered home. Others discovered their place here, making the Hotel Cala di Volpe their home, as well as a stage on their professional journey.
This creative concept comes to life through a series of reportage-style images featuring senior members of the Cala di Volpe team, capturing their presence, character, and the connection they share with the hotel.
According to recent hospitality research reported by The Times, travelers are 75% more likely to return to the same hotel after experiencing warm, friendly service, underscoring the role personal relationships play in defining memorable stays. “Welcome Back. We Missed You” is a message that extends a warm welcome to all those who, season after season, return to the Hotel Cala di Volpe: to the guests who choose this place for their vacations, but also to the team members who, with their return, restore the hotel’s energy, essence, and soul.
The hotel, managed by Marriott International on behalf of Smeralda Holding, a company indirectly controlled by the Qatar Investment Authority, has recently undergone a major renovation. Today, it presents a renewed identity, successfully blending the timeless charm of its origins with a contemporary vision of hospitality. This evolution is reflected in new culinary experiences developed in part through collaborations with international brands, along with expanded wellness, sport, and leisure offerings. With the season now underway, Pevero Golf Club and a selection of signature bars and restaurants have also resumed service, reinforcing a season that continues to extend well into late fall.
Adding to this year’s momentum, guests can now reach Sardinia more easily than ever with the launch of a direct New York–Olbia Delta Air Lines route beginning May 20, operated by Delta Air Lines.
