Malmaison Hotel du Vin extends apprenticeship program adding new courses
Boutique hotel brands Malmaison and Hotel du Vin has announced that 100 apprentices have graduated from its apprenticeship programme in the last 18 months, and that it will be extending the range of apprenticeships it offers over the next year.
The group has 75 apprenticeship opportunities currently available, ranging from management to chef to front of house roles.
These programmes offer a range of nationally recognised and transferable qualifications, and are available for entry level roles right up to level three supervisory roles.
The group also plans to offer level five qualifications in 2018 for those looking to further progress their careers at head office level.
In addition, Malmaison and Hotel du Vin is planning to roll out a range of new apprenticeship courses over the next few months, including roles in spa and beauty, events management, sales and marketing, finance, HR and IT.
Jamie Brookes, who completed the Malmaison Hotel du Vin chef apprenticeship programme, said: “After receiving my A-Levels, I left school and wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. I knew I wanted to work in a kitchen and secured a number of small roles, although none fulfilled my passion for learning.
“I joined the Hotel du Vin Harrogate team in 2016 and within three months was put forward for a role of the Malmaison Hotel du Vin Chef Apprenticeship Programme. I was thrilled and quickly accepted the opportunity. I felt I was moving in the right direction, I enjoyed my job, my team and having the opportunity to create fresh food with bold flavours.”
Lindsay Southward, group people development director added: “It’s increasingly important for the industry to make young people aware of the varied and exciting career opportunities available in the hospitality industry.
“Apprenticeships are a big part of that and will continue to help grow our already extensive training directory and fulfil our goal of becoming an academy.”
