Tokimeite

Tokimeite

This Conduit Street site is Japanese through and through: formerly home to Sakura (which stood on this spot for 40 years), this is now the domain of seven Michelin-starred Yoshihiro Murata, the man behind three-star kaiseki restaurant Kikunoi in Kyoto. We’re told Tokimeitē comes from a Japanese colloquialism meaning a feeling of anticipation or ‘butterflies’: ambition is high. With room for 70, the site covers three floors and incorporates an open kitchen and a chef’s table private dining space, while the brown and gold interior was overseen by award-winning designer Yasumichi Morita. Murata’s focus a modern Japanese menu (including the ever-desirable Wagyu beef) and there’s saké, shochu and Japanese whisky lined up for the bar.
