Velvet is taking the furniture industry by storm

Velvet furniture was a big mid-century trend, but this opulent fabric is making a comeback and Peppermill Interiors are leading the way with a range of new products sporting this luxurious material.
The velvet craze isn’t limited to homes, commercial spaces thinking about restyling in 2019 may want to incorporate this stunning fabric into their plans. For restaurants, velvet dining chairs can add luxury to a simple interior. Go bold with mustard and teal tones or choose grey for a subtle salute to the trend. If going all-out isn’t for you, Peppermill have fantastic accent chairs that can really pay homage to velvet’s rich characteristics, without the cost of revamping a whole interior.
Lauren Stevenson, General Manager, said: “The great thing about this material, is that it reflects the light on even the dullest of colours. Add that vibrance to a private dining room or bar area, and the whole interior instantly stands out.”
New lines from Peppermill include the ‘Chester’ bar stool, available in five colours. It features a winged design with a French inspired pressed button back. Complement this stool with the ‘Lille’ Art Deco style cocktail chair to furnish a hotel bar or fine dining area.
We’ve seen a resurgence of vintage styles over the past decade, with industrial interiors no longer limited to warehouses and factories, and bold patterns working their way back into high street stores. Another comeback is the Chesterfield sofa. This classic design with its buttoned back and scroll arms has always stayed on the periphery of interior fashion, but it has come back into full focus in the last couple of years. Now, we’re seeing interior companies swapping the traditional dark leathers for velvet, and the result is nothing short of amazing. Peppermill have a large Chesterfield sofa in a choice of three velvets, and they have just introduced the ‘Chambery’ velvet armchair in emerald green to the collection. A cafe or hotel lobby can easily incorporate the velvet trend with a key item, such as a sofa or armchair, instantly adding comfort, class and glamour to the space.
