James Villa Holidays announce Mid-Kent MIND as their chosen charity for 2019
Villa holiday specialists James Villas have voted Maidstone & Mid-Kent MIND as their chosen charity for 2019. The tour operator hopes to make a difference in the local community through fundraising efforts, sporting feats and fancy dress.
Over the next 12 months, the Maidstone-based company will work with the mental health charity to raise both funds and awareness of the issues faced by the local community. The support from staff at James Villas came after the charity worked with the villa holiday company during Mental Health Awareness Week to educate them on mental health in the workplace. Staff were given a range of training sessions including Mental Health First Aid, showing the business’ commitment to the issue.
Susie White, Marketing Director at James Villas said: ‘We’re really proud to support Maidstone and Mid-Kent MIND this year. We worked with them in 2018 to raise awareness of mental health in the workplace and to train 30 of our staff in Mental Health First Aid. The fact that the staff have nominated the charity to work with this year shows that it’s something that really does touch everyone. We want to make everyone at James Villas feel comfortable talking about mental health and are looking forward to raising funds as well as awareness in the workplace, in the community and with our own customers.’
Sales Supervisor, Peter Phelan, who nominated the charity and will be co-ordinating the fundraising efforts said: “The subject of mental health is being spoken about more and more in the workplace and more generally but there’s still a stigma attached mental health issues. After dealing with similar issues myself, and knowing a number of others who, too, have dealt with this, I believe it’s never been a better time to raise awareness and fundraise for such a good cause.”
After their successful fundraising efforts with Porchlight in 2018, the staff at James Villa Holidays are determined to come together and succeed in raising more vital funds for such a worthwhile cause.
