La Voga Bar Opens At Grand Hotel Dei Dogi, Venice
Rowing is in vogue, as The Dedica Anthology’s 17th-century palace unveils the city’s newest canalside bar, inspired by the craft of the Venetian gondolier
Grand Hotel dei Dogi, The Dedica Anthology, has opened a relaxed contemporary canalside bar with a nautical club feel, which will delight both newcomers to Venice as well as locals and regulars seeking new discoveries.
Located in Cannaregio, Venice’s most authentic neighbourhood, La Voga (a play on words to convey both ‘rowing’ and ‘vogue’) takes inspiration from the art of traditional Venetian rowing and Venice’s seafaring history, brought to life and reimagined through Patrizia Quartero’s inspiring signature contemporary design.
Conjuring up the atmosphere of a nautical club, La Voga Bar’s curated design references the nuanced colours of the lagoon and the ancient art of gondola rowing, with luxurious Rubelli peacock blue velvet seating, pale green leather and polished ebony armchairs, aged-glass mirrors and Canaletto walnut tables and panelling.
Overlooking the local canal and opposite one of Venice’s traditional rowing schools, La Voga’s outdoor tables create a sociable setting on the pavement in summer. Light dishes are served, rich in history and flavour, and dedicated to local ingredients and sophisticated pairings.
The drinks list – a showcase for creative mixology – covers classic and signature cocktails, including the Voga Martini Stars collection, alongside a wide choice of local and international wines and spirits.
La Voga is open 11am until midnight. The space may be reserved in its entirety for a private, tailor-made event or cocktail party. This can be combined with the hotel’s renowned secret garden, one of the most extensive green spaces in Venice.
