NEW Rattan Lighting Designs

We are excited to introduce three beautiful new light shade designs from Gong.  As new additions to their Rattan Collection, these timeless designs, combine high quality materials and expert craftsmanship, resulting in stylish lighting sure to make a statement in any setting.

With vibes of the Mediterranean and warmer climes, these stylish rattan designs feature a spacious open weave allowing a subtle warm glow to emanate through, without losing any of the light.   Perfect for creating a relaxed atmosphere whether it’s in a cool, laid back restaurant or stylish hotel lobby.

When asked about her inspiration behind the new designs, designer Jo Plismy comments, “It came to my attention that a lot of the light shades on the market made from natural materials seemed more suited to warmer country’s interiors, so I wanted to do something more versatile which would work in urban interiors too.  We do all love natural materials so I decided to design a collection which would still have those feelings of nature and tropical climates but with a twist of something more metropolitan.  This was reflected in the shapes I chose to use together with the use of coloured piping in a choice of red, green or black to give a sophisticated finish.”

Bringing elements of nature inside is widely believed to improve mental health and general wellbeing, by reducing stress, promoting feelings of calm and improving creativity.  The rattan material used for the new designs certainly ticks this box, as well as introducing interesting texture into any interior design scheme.  They also sit very nicely with the current trend of Japandi interior design, bringing a sense of nature fused with minimalist pared back simplicity.

The latest three designs sit perfectly with the Alba pendant (above) and the Kanggo pendant (below) to form the Rattan Collection.   For those really wanting to embrace the rattan look, take a look at Gong’s Boro Lounge Chair in natural rattan and unfinished teak (seen below bottom).  With it’s style reminiscent of 20th century designers such as Bruno Mathsson, this laid back chair oozes stylish sophistication and works effortlessly with the light shades.
