Meanwhile, art enthusiasts can enjoy a private after-hours tour of Galleria Colonna showcasing the art belonging to one of the oldest noble families in Rome.
Island Hopping around the Italian Pontine Islands
Far from the overcrowded hotspots along the west coast of Italy lies a group of islands, between Naples and Rome, called the Italian Pontine Islands where many A-list celebrities have been known to take respite over the years including Jay Z, Beyoncé and Rihanna. The islands of Ponza, Palmarola, Zanone and Ventotene boast some of the most breath-taking beaches and crystal-clear waters in the Tyrrhenian Sea.
Guests will be driven to Urbe Heliport in a Rolls Royce before boarding a helicopter for a tour of the islands to get a dramatic bird’s-eye view. Upon landing on Ponza, a boat will take guests to some of the most secluded areas of the islands for snorkelling and sunbathing followed by an unforgettable meal prepared by the skipper using local ingredients and seafood.
The island-hopping experience costs €15,230 (£13,160 approx.) for two people including Rome Cavalieri Duffle Bags with pareo, swimwear, sunscreen and hat, return car transfers in Rolls Royce, helicopter tour around the islands and private boat tour with local guide and lunch provided.
After-Hours Tour of Galleria Colonna
With only a handful of visitors allowed per month by the general public, guests staying at Rome Cavalieri can visit Galleria Colonna when it is closed and experience an immersive private tour of this opulent palace belonging to the Colonna family, one of the oldest noble families in Rome. Here guests can discover the Colonna’s impressive art collection and learn about the family’s history from their knowledgeable private guide.
The After-Hours Tour of Galleria Colonna costs €935 (£824 approx.) for two people including private guided tour of Galleria Colonna and return transfers from the hotel.
Roman Food Tour
Guests can embark on a culinary journey around Rome sampling local, hand-picked specialities at some of the best eateries in the city. The day starts with breakfast at La Pasticceria Siciliana where guests will enjoy a fresh cannolo before visiting the legendary Pizzarium known for serving the best “pizza al taglio” (slices of pizza) in Rome using local high-quality ingredients.
Guests will be able to shop for fresh produce to take home at either La bufalina gourmet food shop offering hundreds of types of cheeses and meats, or Mercato Trionfale, an authentic market frequented by locals. The tour ends at an artisanal gelateria called Fatamorgana, where guests will learn how to tell the difference between real and fake gelato with over 60 flavours to choose from, all made with 100% natural ingredients.
The Roman Food Tour costs €70 (£62 approx.) per person and is available Monday – Saturday.
Private Tour of the Vatican Gardens
The Vatican Gardens are an oasis of tranquillity in the centre of Rome that have been used for centuries by Popes looking for a moment of contemplation surrounded by peace and quiet. Filled with nooks and crannies waiting to be discovered, a Vatican appointed guide will take guests on a private tour of the sprawling gardens whilst providing anecdotes and stories surrounding the history of the papacy in Rome. Spread across 57 acres, guests will stroll among sacred monuments, sculpture fountains, and rare botanical treasures.
The Private Tour of the Vatican Gardens starts from €867 (£750 approx.) for two people including private tour of the Vatican Gardens with a guide, return transfers to the Vatican in a Mercedes S Class and one coffee table book on the Vatican Gardens in room upon return.
