Dominvs Hospitality has begun work on converting the former Tower Bridge Magistrates’ Court and police station into a luxury hotel.
The Grade II listed building which was designed by the architect John Dixon Butler and originally constructed in 1906, will offer guests 191 luxury bedrooms as well meeting facilities and a destination restaurant. Positioned just 200 metres from the world-famous Tower Bridge, it is set to become a landmark destination for the area and is due for completion in 2019.
This latest development represents the start of Dominvs’ expansion into London. The most recent opening by the group was the acclaimed Holiday Inn located in the heart of Manchester which opened in April 2016. The Tower Bridge site is first of several sites Dominvs are looking to develop in the capital, as well as other key city locations.
Preet Ahluwalia, Director for Dominvs Group, said: “The development at Tower Bridge is a key move into the London hospitality market and will bring a boost to the South Bank market. After of the launch of Holiday Inn Manchester City Centre, we are excited to bring our successful formula to the capital.”
“Dominvs Hospitality is committed to developing high quality properties in locations that attract high demand due to their central setting and strong infrastructural links.”
To coincide with commencement of the works, it has also been announced the hotel will be part of The Autograph Collection by Marriott. The collection’s vision is to offer an evolving group of passionately independent hotels. Each is chosen for its quality, originality, bold character and capacity to offer guests a range of unexpected experiences suited to their individual sense of style and adventure.
Sean Brookes, Dominvs Hospitality’s Chief Operating Officer, comments: “Securing an agreement with the Marriott Autograph Collection is great news for us and for the future guests at the hotel. Autograph Collection is an established operator in a number of strategic locations and we look forward to working with them to apply their distinctive brand of luxury to our Tower Bridge development.”
