Suvlaki – Editor’s Review

Lamb shoulder Suvlaki with Herb Salad and Baked Feta, Tzatziki and Red Pepper Dip

Street Food with Style

We recently visited Suvlaki, a new restaurant in Soho. Suvalki is a sleek and casual restaurant serving delicious Greek street food. Co-owners Yannis Theodorakakos and  Michael Kantartzis have teamed up with Greek chef and Greek TV personality Elias Mamalakis to create a mouth-watering menu of authentic  greek street food with a modern twist.

Walking down Bateman Street the Suvlaki Restaurant stands out with its deep blue with white script like writing covering the exterior walls, this stylish theme continues as you enter. The interior is an intimate space which seats 34, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Parthenon-style marble columns, white marble table tops and rich blues which are offset by luxe copper detailing gives the Suvlaki restaurant a distinctively striking interior.

We opted for generous offerings of the ‘Suvlaki Exuberance’ and out came a feast of Suvlaki skewers – wild boar sausage, pork and chicken thighs, Suvlaki wraps – lamb mince and pulled pork plus an array of side dishes,  also added was a lamb shoulder skewer.

The flavours were bold and delicious. Each piece of meat flavoured to perfection and succulent. The side dishes were a perfect balance, the baked feta was outstanding, the flavour strong and more-ish.

To finish off we had the restaurants only offering of a dessert, the chocolate biscuit cake with homemade Greek coffee ice cream. A generous portion of delicious cake with rich creamy ice cream.

Suvlaki is the perfect place for authentic Greek food which is full of flavour.
