The Arch London

The Arch, London provides a superb location from where one can visit the iconic sights of the City, yet is situated where one does not notice the hustle and bustle. The 5-Star boutique Hotel is located in Great Cumberland Place, a short walk from the majestic Marble Arch and serene Hyde Park.

Converted from seven Grade 2 listed townhouses and two mews homes the Arch, covers approximately 55,000 square feet and 82 guest rooms and suites. The modern feel of the Arch is accentuated by the artwork, commissioned from young up and coming artists, which adds vibrancy to the décor throughout. The rooms are individually designed with high-end furnishings and the latest technology. We stayed in the Welbeck Suite – a spacious ground level room which offered comfort in abundance. The Suite came with comfortable sofa and chair with a large supply of cushions, a four poster king size bed, large HD television with Sky TV package and Nespresso machine. The luxurious en-suite bathroom comprised of full sized bath – with built-in television, and a separate rainforest shower cubicle complete with branded toiletries. On request, a lavish baby’s cot was provided and the baby was provided with his own complimentary baby toiletries. It is the small touches, such as this, which makes The Arch stand out above other similar Hotels.

After a pleasant stroll through Hyde Park, which helped work up an appetite, we adjourned to Hunter 486, the Restaurant located adjacent to the Hotel’s reception. Made up of both booths and tables, the restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere with subtle lighting and a glass-topped bar.  Having been seated in a booth, a curtain was drawn around to allow some privacy –a nice additional touch. The menu was a British affair with plenty of options, but without the need to spend hours studying it. We started with dressed Dorset crab with curry mayonnaise and Pan fried chicken livers and bacon. Each was full of flavour and beautifully presented. The main course was almost as traditional as it gets, Beer battered haddock, chips and mushy peas. The batter was delightfully light and the fish perfectly cooked, the striking colour of the mushy peas was matched by their taste. My partner had the braised lamb shank with rosemary mash. The lamb was cooked superbly and was wonderfully complemented by the mash. The meal was rounded off with sticky toffee pudding and banana ice cream – extremely comforting yet done with a sense of style. After such a splendid meal, it was time to relax in our room which led to a very comfortable night’s sleep.

Following the previous night’s meal, we were eagerly looking forward to returning to Hunter 486 for breakfast. We were not to be disappointed. The menu is broken down dependant on your dietry requirements and preferences – Full English, Continental, Nutritious, Grain- based or Vegetarian. There was a selection of free range eggs cooked to your liking, cereals, smoothies, porridge with a variety of toppings, pastries, and traditional cooked English breakfast to name but a few. All washed down with a selection of teas, coffees and fruit juices.

The check-out was smooth and the staff throughout our stay were extremely polite, professional and helpful – from the reception desk to the valet parking and everything in between.

Sophisticated design, eye-catching décor and contemporary artwork are personified in The Arch, London. And together with hi-spec technology and additional touches over and above expectation, the Arch provides a wonderful stay in the centre of London for singles, couples or families.
